The Tanzania Trade Development Authority (TANTRADE) has announced an expanded programme for the 50th Sabasaba International Trade Fair, highlighting increased participation from both local and international exhibitors as preparations intensify for the 2026 edition.
Speaking to journalists, TANTRADE Director General Latifa Khamis said this year’s fair has attracted 3,752 local exhibitors, compared to 3,670 last year, reflecting growing interest from businesses seeking to showcase their products and services at one of the region’s largest trade platforms.
She also noted that 23 countries have already confirmed participation, with expectations that more will join before the opening date.
According to her, the exhibitions will officially begin on June 28 and run until July 13, 2026, at the Sabasaba grounds in Dar es Salaam.
The event will be held alongside the Golden Jubilee celebrations marking 50 years of the fair, a milestone that is expected to attract high-level stakeholders from across the continent and beyond.
She added that the programme will feature a wide range of business and investment activities, including dedicated days for key institutions, business-to-business meetings, investment forums, and platforms designed to connect local entrepreneurs with international partners.
One of the major highlights of this year’s fair, she said, will be the Golden Jubilee Night scheduled for July 6, 2026.
The event will showcase historical documents and exhibitions tracing the evolution of the Sabasaba trade fair over the past five decades, alongside cultural and networking activities aimed at celebrating its contribution to Tanzania’s economic development.
The official opening of the fair will take place on June 27, 2026, at the Farasi Grounds, in a special procession expected to be led by the Speaker of the National Assembly Mussa Azzan.
TANTRADE said the 2026 edition is expected to further strengthen Tanzania’s position as a regional trade and investment hub by promoting innovation, expanding market access, and deepening collaboration between domestic and international business communities.
