Preparations for the 50th Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair (DITF), popularly known as Sabasaba, have reached 99 per cent completion, with organisers expressing confidence that the landmark exhibition is fully set to welcome thousands of local and international exhibitors and visitors.

The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Ambassador Waziri Salum, said only minor finishing works remain, noting that most exhibition pavilions are already operational and actively hosting early preparations ahead of the official opening.

Speaking on Monday after inspecting the exhibition grounds in Dar es Salaam ahead of the minister’s scheduled visit later this week, Ambassador Salum commended organisers for what he described as near-flawless preparations for one of Tanzania’s most important annual trade events.

“I am satisfied with the level of readiness. We are now above 99 per cent completion, and only final touches remain. The organisation has been excellent,” he said.

Ambassador Salum noted that this year’s fair has attracted strong interest from both local and international exhibitors, with demand for exhibition space surpassing expectations.

He said this reflects the growing confidence in the fair as a key regional platform for trade, investment, and business networking.

He further observed notable improvements in the quality of products presented by Tanzanian manufacturers, particularly women-led enterprises, highlighting advances in packaging, branding, and overall competitiveness in both domestic and international markets.

Ambassador Salum urged Tanzanians to prioritise locally produced goods in order to strengthen domestic industries and support broader economic growth.

He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to improving the business environment and creating more opportunities for entrepreneurs to thrive.

He added that participation from more than 23 countries presents a significant opportunity for Tanzanian businesses to showcase their products, build partnerships, and expand access to global markets.

Ambassador Salum encouraged exhibitors to fully utilise the Sabasaba platform to market their brands, demonstrate quality standards, and engage potential investors and buyers from across the world.
