A Member of the National Executive Committee (MNEC) of CCM, Ndele Mwaselela, has pledged continued strong support for President Samia Suluhu Hassan, saying her leadership has created opportunities that are transforming the lives of many Tanzanians, especially young people.
Mwaselela made the remarks on June 10, 2026, during the Mbeya Region Scholars’ Federation Conference held at Mkapa Hall in Mbeya City, where academics from across the region gathered to assess development progress and discuss the role of education in national transformation.
He said the achievements recorded under President Samia’s administration reflect purposeful leadership that has opened doors for citizens to participate in economic and social development.
Mwaselela added that beneficiaries of government policies have a duty to support and promote accurate information about national development, noting that public awareness is key to sustaining progress.
He emphasized that development gains should be communicated clearly and consistently to citizens, especially at the grassroots level, to ensure communities fully understand ongoing government initiatives.
He further called on scholars to play a more active role in educating the public by simplifying government policies and development programmes, arguing that technical knowledge should be translated into practical understanding for ordinary citizens.
Mwaselela said forums such as the Mbeya scholars’ conference are important platforms for strengthening dialogue between experts, leaders, and communities, and should continue to focus on issues that directly affect citizens’ daily lives, including agriculture, education, health, and infrastructure.
Mbeya District Commissioner Solomon Itunda, who represented the Mbeya Regional Commissioner, praised the initiative, saying it strengthens collaboration between government and intellectuals in promoting development.
He said Mbeya Region has continued to perform strongly in revenue collection, surpassing its annual target by achieving over 100 percent before the close of the financial year, reflecting improved efficiency and accountability in public finance management.
In the energy sector, Itunda said all 333 villages in Mbeya Region are now connected to electricity, while 1,880 out of 2,951 hamlets have also been reached, significantly improving livelihoods and supporting small business growth in rural areas.
He noted that these achievements are the result of continued government investment in rural electrification and infrastructure development aimed at improving living standards across the region.
Itunda added that the progress witnessed in Mbeya reflects the broader vision of the Sixth Phase Government under President Samia Suluhu Hassan, which prioritizes inclusive development and service delivery.
A resident of Sinde, Zawadi Juma, said citizens are already seeing real changes in their daily lives, particularly in education, roads, and water services, which have improved access to essential services.
She said leaders like Mwaselela play a key role in bridging communication between the government and citizens by explaining development achievements and encouraging public participation in national progress.
The conference was highlighted as an important platform for strengthening cooperation between scholars, government officials, and citizens to ensure development information is widely shared and effectively understood at all levels of society.
