Muhimbili National Hospital (MNH) has called on its employees to strengthen collaboration and accountability as the country’s largest referral hospital seeks to improve healthcare services and institutional performance.

Speaking at the opening of the hospital’s 31st Workers’ Council meeting on June 10, 2026, MNH Executive Director Dr Delilah Kimambo said the forum provides an opportunity for staff representatives to contribute ideas and recommendations aimed at enhancing operations and service delivery.

The meeting brought together employee representatives from various departments and units to discuss the hospital’s development priorities, performance and staff welfare.

Dr Kimambo said the hospital’s achievements depend largely on the commitment, professionalism and teamwork of its workforce, urging council members to actively participate in discussions and propose solutions to challenges facing the institution.

She noted that employee involvement in decision-making processes is crucial in improving efficiency and ensuring the hospital continues to meet the growing healthcare needs of Tanzanians.

The annual Workers’ Council meeting reviews the implementation of the hospital’s activities, assesses progress on institutional plans and budgets, and evaluates strategies for improving performance.

It also serves as a platform for strengthening cooperation between management and employees, with the aim of increasing productivity and enhancing the quality of healthcare services provided to the public.

Muhimbili National Hospital remains a key pillar of Tanzania’s healthcare system, providing specialised medical services, training health professionals and supporting medical research.

Hospital leaders say sustained engagement between management and staff is essential for maintaining high standards of care and responding effectively to the evolving demands of the health sector.
