JKT and KIUT women’s volleyball teams have made a strong start in the semifinals of the Dar es Salaam Regional Volleyball League (DAREVA) after securing important victories in their opening matches played on June 25, 2026, at Kampala Grounds in Gongolamboto, Dar es Salaam.

JKT registered a convincing 3–1 win over Tanzania Prisons in a closely contested match that tested both sides’ tactical discipline and endurance.

In another semifinal encounter, KIUT edged Chui in a dramatic five-set battle, winning 3–2 to take an early advantage in their quest for a place in the final.

JKT captain Tabitha Thomas said the victory against Tanzania Prisons had boosted the team’s confidence as they push to seal early qualification to the final without the need for a decisive third match.

She noted that the opponents came strongly prepared, aiming to avenge their previous defeat, which made the encounter highly competitive.

She explained that JKT players responded with determination and teamwork, managing to control key moments of the match and secure the 3–1 result.

According to her, the team is now fully focused on the second semifinal match scheduled for the following day, with the objective of completing the series early and booking a direct ticket to the final.

On the other side, Tanzania Prisons captain Naima Mrope acknowledged the defeat but maintained that her team still has a strong chance to bounce back in the next match.

She said the game was competitive and that small mistakes and coordination challenges contributed to their loss.

Naima added that the team is determined to correct its errors and come back stronger in the return fixture, urging supporters not to lose hope as the contest is still open.

The semifinals are being played in a best-of-three format, meaning teams that win two matches will automatically advance to the final.

If JKT and KIUT win their second matches, they will secure direct qualification. However, if Tanzania Prisons and Chui manage to level the series, a decisive third match will be played to determine the finalists of the DAREVA women’s competition.
