Deputy Minister in the President’s Office for Public Service Management and Good Governance, Regina Ndege Qwaray, has donated 36 computers, 45 chairs, desks and cabinets to primary and secondary schools, as well as health facilities, in Babati District Council, in a move aimed at strengthening service delivery in education and healthcare sectors.

The donated equipment, which was mobilised through support from various development partners and institutions, is intended to address critical shortages of learning and working tools in public institutions within the district.

Speaking during the handover ceremony, Qwaray said the initiative followed her assessment of existing gaps in schools, dispensaries and health centres, which she noted were affecting efficiency in service delivery.

“I identified challenges in our institutions and engaged different development partners who supported efforts to secure these items to help improve education and health services,” she said.

She stressed the importance of proper care and maintenance of the equipment, urging heads of schools and health facilities to ensure the donated items are used responsibly and preserved for long-term benefit to the community.

Qwaray also commended public servants in Babati District Council for their dedication and efforts in addressing community challenges, saying effective service delivery depends on commitment and teamwork among government employees.

She further called on staff to strengthen cooperation among themselves and build positive relations with citizens, noting that strong collaboration is key to improving public service outcomes.

“Public servants must value their responsibilities and work diligently to ensure that citizens receive quality services. Cooperation and accountability are essential in achieving development goals,” she said.

Babati District Council Chairperson, John Noya, expressed gratitude for the donation, saying it would help ease long-standing shortages of essential equipment in schools and health facilities.

He said the support would contribute to improving learning environments and enhancing healthcare service delivery across the district.

“We sincerely thank the Deputy Minister for this important support. The shortage of equipment has been a major challenge, and this contribution will make a meaningful difference,” Noya said.

For her part, Babati District Council Executive Director, Anna Mbogo, also thanked the Deputy Minister for the assistance and called for continued collaboration in addressing development challenges facing the council.

Residents also welcomed the donation, with Victoria Thomas, a resident of Dareda, praising Qwaray for her continued engagement in community development initiatives, saying she has consistently demonstrated commitment to supporting social services in the region.
