Dodoma. CRDB Bank has pledged to support Tanzania’s preparations for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), positioning itself as a key private-sector partner in efforts to deliver the continent’s premier football tournament.
The commitment was made by CRDB Bank Group Chief Executive Officer, Dr Abdulmajid Nsekela, during his visit to the Ministry of Information, Culture, Arts and Sports pavilion at the ongoing Public Service Week exhibitions at Chinangali Grounds in Dodoma on June 19.
As Tanzania intensifies preparations for AFCON 2027, which it will co-host with Kenya and Uganda, Dr Nsekela said the bank was ready to work closely with the government and other stakeholders to support the successful organisation of the tournament.
“CRDB will stand shoulder to shoulder with the ministry whenever our support is needed. We are a major stakeholder in sports development and other sectors under the ministry, and we are fully committed to contributing to the success of AFCON 2027,” he said.
His remarks underscore the growing role of the private sector in supporting major national projects, including sports infrastructure, event financing and initiatives aimed at enhancing Tanzania’s readiness to host international competitions.
Dr Nsekela also commended the ministry for using the Public Service Week exhibitions as a platform to engage citizens and improve access to public services.
He noted that the participation of institutions operating under the ministry had enabled members of the public to obtain information and services more efficiently.
“The ministry has brought together institutions from different sectors under one roof, making it easier for citizens to access assistance and information without unnecessary delays,” he said.
The ministry’s Director of Administration and Human Resources Management, Ms Savera Salvatory, welcomed CRDB’s commitment, describing the bank as an important partner in the development of sports and other social sectors.
She said collaboration between government institutions and private-sector stakeholders would remain essential in advancing the ministry’s mandate and improving service delivery to the public.
The Public Service Week exhibitions, which have attracted participation from government institutions, public agencies and private-sector organisations, are expected to conclude on June 23 at the Chinangali Grounds in Dodoma.
