The College of Business Education (CBE) has intensified efforts to equip Tanzanian youth and small entrepreneurs with practical skills through specialised short courses aimed at improving business management, customer service and employment opportunities.
Speaking during the Public Service Week exhibitions at Chinangali Park in Dodoma, CBE officials said the institution offers short entrepreneurship courses designed to help small and medium-sized business owners manage their finances, improve record keeping, adopt digital marketing techniques and increase productivity.
CBE also offers specialised training for bus attendants and conductors in collaboration with the Land Transport Regulatory Authority (LATRA), with the courses focusing on customer care, hygiene, professionalism and proper management of transport services.
The training, which is open to Tanzanians who can read and write, has attracted strong interest from transport companies seeking to improve service quality.
CBE officials said feedback from bus operators and passengers indicates that graduates of the programme have contributed to improved customer service standards, cleanliness and professionalism within the public transport sector.
The college noted that the courses have created employment opportunities for many young Tanzanians, including both men and women, particularly those who may not possess higher academic qualifications.
Beyond short courses, CBE also offers long-term studies in Transport and Logistics Management from certificate level to bachelor’s degree.
Officials said the programme is considered strategic to Tanzania’s transport sector, with graduates finding employment opportunities in areas such as the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR), bus companies and other transport-related institutions.
Students enrolled in certificate and diploma levels of the Transport and Logistics programme are also eligible to apply for government student loans, further increasing access to professional training.
Through these programmes, CBE says it aims to support Tanzania’s industrial and economic transformation by developing a workforce with practical skills and an entrepreneurial mindset.
