The Bank of Tanzania (BoT) and Africa Media Group Limited (AMGL) have initiated discussions on a strategic partnership aimed at strengthening financial literacy and expanding public access to economic information, in a move expected to support the country’s financial inclusion agenda.

BoT Governor, Emmanuel Tutuba, met with AMGL Chief Executive Officer, Dennis Msacky, on June 16, 2026, in Dar es Salaam, where the two leaders explored ways of leveraging media platforms to improve public understanding of financial and economic matters.

AMGL owns Channel Ten television and Magic FM radio, both of which have a broad audience across Tanzania.

The discussions focused on opportunities for collaboration in delivering financial education programmes and economic content designed to enhance citizens’ knowledge of financial services, savings, investment and broader economic issues.

The initiative is expected to contribute to increased financial inclusion by enabling more Tanzanians to access and effectively use formal financial services, while also fostering a deeper understanding of economic policies and developments.

The two leaders underscored the critical role of the media in disseminating accurate, reliable and accessible economic information to the public, noting that informed citizens are better equipped to make sound financial decisions and participate meaningfully in the country’s economic growth.

They also observed that strengthening public awareness of financial and economic issues would support Tanzania’s long-term development aspirations, including the objectives set out in the National Development Vision 2050, which seeks to promote sustainable and inclusive economic transformation.

The meeting signals growing recognition of the importance of partnerships between public institutions and media organisations in advancing financial literacy and ensuring that economic information reaches a wider segment of the population.
