Tanzania has brought together more than 250 public and private institutions at the ongoing National Public Service Week exhibition in Dodoma as part of efforts to improve accountability, increase access to government services and strengthen citizen engagement.
The exhibition, taking place at the Chinangali grounds under the theme “Promoting Inclusive Accountability for Sustainable Service Delivery,” provides citizens with an opportunity to access a wide range of services directly from government institutions and private sector stakeholders.
Among the services available at the exhibition are issuance of land titles, birth certificates, passports, national identification services, health services, railway ticketing services, and information on various government digital platforms and overseas employment opportunities.
President’s Office, Public Service Management and Good Governance, who organized the whole event said that it aims to educate citizens on available public services and improve interaction between service providers and the communities they serve.
A key highlight of this year’s exhibition is the planned launch of the Government Service Directory (GSD), a digital platform designed to provide citizens with comprehensive information on government services and simplify access to those services.
The inauguration that was honoured by The minister Hon. Ridhiwani Kikwete consolidate information on government services in one platform, enabling citizens to easily understand where and how they can obtain different services.
The exhibition has also attracted private sector companies and entrepreneurs showcasing innovations and products, including clean cooking energy technologies, reflecting the government’s broader approach of involving different stakeholders in improving public services and supporting sustainable development.
Public Service Week is an annual event aimed at recognising the role of public servants and strengthening the quality, efficiency and responsiveness of services delivered to Tanzanians.
