Simba SC head coach Steve Barker has expressed satisfaction with his team’s performance following a 2-0 victory over Singida Black Stars in the NBC Premier League, a result that kept their title hopes alive heading into the final day of the season.
The match, played at the Major General Isamuhyo Stadium in Dar es Salaam, saw Simba deliver a composed and disciplined performance, securing three valuable points that ensured they remain firmly in the title race.
Speaking after the match, Barker said attention has now shifted fully to their final fixture against KMC FC, scheduled for June 30 at the KMC Complex in Dar es Salaam.
He stressed that the objective is to finish the season strongly with another victory while awaiting the outcome of other decisive results in the title race.
Barker commended his players for adhering to tactical instructions, noting that their discipline, focus and teamwork were key factors behind the positive result.
He added that preparations for the final match would continue with full intensity as the team aims to maintain momentum.
The win lifted Simba SC to 70 points, placing them second in the NBC Premier League standings, just two points behind leaders Yanga SC.
The tight race means the championship could still go down to the final whistle of the season, with Simba needing a win over KMC FC and hoping for a favourable result elsewhere to stand any chance of clinching the title.
Despite the pressure, Barker maintained that the focus must remain on delivering their own performance rather than being distracted by external outcomes.
He said consistency, concentration and professionalism will be crucial as Simba aim to close the campaign on a high note.
KMC FC are expected to pose a competitive challenge as they look to end their season positively, setting the stage for a highly anticipated final-day encounter with significant implications for Simba SC’s title ambitions.
