Prime Minister Nchemba, AfDB Chief discuss stronger economic cooperation

Prime Minister Mwigulu Nchemba has held talks with the President of the African Development Bank, Sidi Ould Tah, focusing on strengthening development cooperation and expanding economic opportunities for Tanzania and the wider African continent.

The discussions took place on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, on the sidelines of the 61st Annual Meeting of the AfDB Board of Governors, currently being held at the Kintele Congress Centre in Brazzaville, Republic of Congo.

The meeting brought together African leaders, finance experts, and development partners to review progress on key economic priorities, including infrastructure development, investment financing, and strategies to accelerate sustainable growth across Africa.

During the talks, Prime Minister Nchemba and President Sidi Ould Tah exchanged views on how to deepen cooperation between Tanzania and AfDB, particularly in areas that support inclusive economic growth, job creation, and improved delivery of development projects.

The Prime Minister also highlighted Tanzania’s ongoing development agenda and efforts to strengthen key sectors of the economy, including infrastructure, energy, and social services, which are critical in driving long-term growth and regional competitiveness.
