President of the United Republic of Tanzania and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Samia Suluhu Hassan, has praised the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Camillus Wambura, awarding him a 70 percent performance score in recognition of notable reforms in discipline and professionalism within the Tanzania Police Force.
The remarks were made today during the closing ceremony of the Police Force Officers and Assistant Inspectors Training Course Number One of the 2025/2026 academic year held at Kurasini in Dar es Salaam, where new officers completed their training.
President Samia expressed satisfaction with the visible improvements in the force, especially in discipline, physical fitness, and overall conduct of officers.
She said the changes reflect successful implementation of government directives aimed at strengthening professionalism and restoring high standards within the security services.
“I have seen, Wambura, that you have implemented the instructions I gave you. I have seen the bodies of our officers and how disciplined they are. There is no one with unnecessary body weight. The young officers are well trained, well shaped, and presentable. So if I were to give marks, I would give you 70 percent,” said President Samia.
While commending the progress, the Head of State cautioned against complacency, stressing that the reforms must continue until full efficiency is achieved.
She said the current performance shows progress, but more effort is still required to complete the transformation agenda within the force.
She explained that although significant achievements have been recorded, about 30 percent of the expected improvements remain, and must be addressed through continued discipline, accountability, and professional conduct across all ranks.
President Samia emphasized that the ongoing reforms are aimed at building a modern, efficient, and citizen-centered police service that upholds law and order while improving public trust and service delivery.
The ceremony also marked the graduation of new officers and assistant inspectors under the Tanzania Police Force, reflecting continued government efforts to strengthen capacity, discipline, and professionalism within the security sector.
The event concluded with a renewed commitment from police leadership and graduates to uphold discipline, implement reforms, and serve citizens with integrity and professionalism across the country.
