Police investigate body found in Msimbazi River

Police in Dar es Salaam have launched investigations into the death of a man whose body was found floating in the Msimbazi River on the night of April 30, 2026.

The body was discovered at around 9:00 pm in the Kipawa area of Ilala District. Authorities said initial observations indicated the body had severe injuries, prompting a detailed forensic inquiry.

Preliminary findings suggest the deceased could be James Temba, a resident of Tabata Chang’ombe, although police are yet to confirm the identity officially.

The Dar es Salaam Special Zone Police said investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of death and the circumstances surrounding the incident. Officers are also working to establish whether foul play was involved.

Police said legal action will be taken against anyone found responsible, and called on members of the public to come forward with any information that could assist the investigation.
