Police arrest six suspects over alleged possession of Human Head in Dar es Salaam

The Police Force in the Dar es Salaam Special Zone has arrested six people, including a traditional healer, in connection with a disturbing case involving the alleged possession of a human head believed to belong to a missing resident of Kitunda, Ilala District.

Speaking on May 13, 2026, in Dar es Salaam, the Dar es Salaam Special Zone Police Commander, CP Murilo Jumanne Murilo, confirmed that the suspects are being interrogated as investigations continue.

He identified the main suspect as Said Ali (31), a traditional healer popularly known as “SIDE,” who is among those in custody together with five others whose identities have been withheld for further investigation.

According to police, the investigation began on March 30, 2026, after authorities received initial information regarding the disappearance of a resident identified as James Temba, a resident of Kitunda in Ilala District.

Commander Murilo said preliminary investigations led officers to arrest the six suspects, who are now assisting police with further inquiries into the incident.

“We are holding six suspects, including Said Ali, also known as SIDE, in connection with this case. Legal procedures are ongoing,” he said.

He further noted that during the investigation process, one of the suspects allegedly led police officers to a location where the remains of the deceased, identified as James Rojers Temba, were reportedly found buried.

Commander Murilo urged members of the public to remain calm and patient as investigations continue, stressing that security organs are working closely with other relevant investigative authorities to uncover the full truth.

He also condemned the incident, describing it as a serious crime against humanity that should be rejected by all members of society.

Police have said that investigations are still ongoing, and the suspects will be taken to court once the process is complete.
