This year’s Male Athlete of the Year category features a compelling lineup of Clement Mzize (football), long-distance runner Alphonce Felix Simbu, and boxer Salimini Kasimu Khamis.

The trio has delivered remarkable performances over the past year, raising Tanzania’s profile on the international stage.

In the women’s category, Stumai Abdallah has continued to impress in football with consistent standout displays, while Magdalena Shauri has dominated in athletics, registering major wins and setting new benchmarks.

Basketball star Merciana Kizenge also earns her place among the elite after playing a pivotal role in her team’s success.

The race for Best Coach is equally competitive, with Mohamed Mbwana (basketball), Antony Mwingireza (athletics), and Samuel Kapungu (boxing) recognized for their tactical brilliance and commitment to nurturing talent.

Club of the Year will see football giants Simba SC go head-to-head with rising basketball side Dar City, underlining the growing competitiveness across different sports disciplines in Tanzania.

In team categories, the Men’s Team of the Year nominees include the Tanzania national football team (Taifa Stars), the U19 national cricket team, and the national boxing team (BFT), all of whom have posted impressive achievements.

For women, the spotlight falls on the national futsal team, the national tennis team for athletes with disabilities, and the U17 national basketball team.

Organized through the Ministry of Information, Culture, Arts and Sports in collaboration with the National Sports Council, the awards underscore the government’s commitment to advancing sports development.

Beyond recognition, the event serves as a powerful platform to motivate athletes and inspire the next generation to pursue sports professionally.

The ceremony is expected to draw top government officials, sports leaders, athletes, and fans from across the country, turning the Super Dome into a celebration of talent and determination.

With competition tight across all categories, the stage is set for a thrilling night one that will not only crown the best but also reflect the steady rise of Tanzania’s sporting excellence.
