The Ministry of Health collected TZS 593.5 billion in domestic revenue between July 2025 and March 2026, reaching 72.42 percent of its annual target as the government continued expanding investment in healthcare services across the country.
Presenting the ministry’s 2026/2027 budget estimates in Parliament in Dodoma on Monday, Health Minister Mohamed Mchengerwa said the ministry’s performance reflects ongoing implementation of the CCM 2025 Election Manifesto and the National Development Vision 2050.
Mchengerwa told lawmakers that the ministry had projected to collect TZS 819.98 billion in internal revenue during the nine-month period, but succeeded in collecting TZS 593.5 billion by March this year.
The minister also revealed that the ministry received TZS 1.11 trillion from development partners and international organisations to finance strategic health projects aimed at improving medical services and strengthening the country’s healthcare system.
He said the funds have supported programmes targeting HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria, while also helping to improve vaccination services, nutrition programmes, safe blood availability, and maternal and child healthcare.
Mchengerwa commended development partners for their continued support to Tanzania’s health sector, citing contributions from Global Fund, Gavi, World Bank, UNICEF and UNFPA.
He said the government remains focused on strengthening healthcare delivery through increased investment in medical infrastructure, essential medicines, specialised treatment services and human resources in the health sector.
