The Athletics Association of Dar es Salaam (DAA) will officially unveil its squad of athletes tomorrow ahead of the National Athletics Championships scheduled for May 29 to 30 this year at Filbert Bayi Stadium in Coast Region.

Speaking in Dar es Salaam, DAA Media and Communications Manager, Tullo Chambo, said preparations for the team are progressing well under the association’s Technical Committee, with athletes continuing intensive training as they aim to deliver strong results at the national level.

He said the national championships remain one of the key events in the Athletics Tanzania calendar, attracting regional teams from both Mainland Tanzania and Zanzibar, and serving as an important platform for talent identification and development.

Chambo noted that the Dar es Salaam team is focused on assembling a competitive squad capable of improving its performance and maintaining a strong presence in national athletics competitions.

He also called on stakeholders, partners, and sports enthusiasts to support the development of athletics in the region, emphasizing the importance of collaboration in nurturing young talent.

“We welcome stakeholders to visit our offices and explore ways they can support the growth of athletics in Dar es Salaam and Tanzania as a whole,” he said.

He added that the squad will be formally presented in a brief ceremony before departing for Kilimanjaro for final preparations ahead of the championships.

Meanwhile, Chambo said the association is also preparing to take part in a special commemoration of the Day of the Boy Child, which will feature various sports activities as well as athletics clinics aimed at children and youth development.
