Zambia and Türkiye have signed a Defence Industry Cooperation Agreement aimed at strengthening bilateral ties through joint ventures, technology transfer, and capacity building.
The agreement was signed in Ankara, with Zambia's Defence Minister Ambrose Lufuma, while Türkiye’s Secretary of Defence Industries, Professor Haluk Görgün, signed on behalf of his country.
Speaking after the signing ceremony, Mr. Lufuma, said Zambia is seeking to expand cooperation in defence industries, particularly in areas that will enhance skills development, knowledge exchange, and technology transfer.
He added that the agreement marks a significant step towards sustainable defence and development cooperation between the two countries.
Meanwhile, Professor Görgün expressed appreciation to Zambia for honouring the invitation, stating that Türkiye looks forward to implementing the agreement through joint ventures.
Under the deal, Türkiye will support Zambia with advanced technology and expertise to strengthen the country’s defence production capacity and boost the Zambia Defence Force.
