Water Institute Board meets to improve training and support National Water Sector

The Board of the Water Institute has met in Dar es Salaam to discuss practical steps to improve training, expand services, and strengthen development projects that directly benefit citizens.

The 46th Board meeting, held on April 28, 2026, was chaired by Dr. Maulid J. Maulid, who guided discussions focused on ensuring the institute produces skilled professionals capable of solving real water challenges facing communities across the country.

Key issues discussed included improving the quality of teaching and learning, upgrading training facilities, and expanding programmes to meet the growing demand for water experts. 

The Board also stressed the need for development projects that will have a direct impact on service delivery, particularly in areas such as clean water supply, sanitation, and sustainable water management.

The meeting highlighted the importance of aligning training with national priorities so that graduates from the institute can effectively support government efforts to expand access to safe and reliable water services.

The Board brings together seven members with diverse expertise from academia, finance, and the public sector. 

Members include Dr. Felician Komu, Lucy Mrikaria, Professor Adam Karia, who serves as Secretary and Rector of the institute, Professor Said Ally, Jane Gonsalves, and Engineer Charles Mafie from the Ministry of Water.

Through these discussions, the Board reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring the Water Institute continues to deliver quality education and produce professionals who can help improve water services and support national development.
