The Government of Tanzania and the Slovak Republic have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations following high-level discussions held in Dar es Salaam on April 14, 2026.
The Ambassador of Slovakia to Tanzania, Mr. Ivan Lančarič, met with the Acting Director of the Europe and Americas Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Ms. Ellen Maduhu, to review ongoing diplomatic cooperation and future areas of engagement between the two countries.
During the meeting, Ambassador Lančarič expressed appreciation to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for its strong coordination and support in facilitating a series of high-level meetings he had requested.
These included meetings with the President of Zanzibar, the Prime Minister of the United Republic of Tanzania, and the Minister for Planning and Investment.
He noted that such engagements reflect the growing partnership between Tanzania and Slovakia and contribute to strengthening cooperation in diplomatic, economic, and development areas.
The two sides also discussed preparations for the upcoming visit of the Slovak Minister of Foreign Affairs, scheduled for June 2026.
The visit is expected to further enhance bilateral relations and open new opportunities for cooperation in investment, trade, and development initiatives.
Officials from both countries agreed that the planned visit will be an important milestone in consolidating the growing ties between Tanzania and Slovakia, particularly following the recent establishment of Slovakia’s resident embassy in Dar es Salaam.
The Slovak Embassy in Tanzania was officially opened in November 2025, marking a significant step in expanding diplomatic presence in the country.
Mr. Ivan Lančarič is the first resident Ambassador of Slovakia to Tanzania. Before the establishment of the embassy, Slovakia was represented through its embassy in Nairobi, Kenya.
The establishment of the resident embassy and continued high-level engagements highlight the shared commitment by Tanzania and Slovakia to deepen cooperation and strengthen mutually beneficial relations for development and prosperity.
