Samia reshuffles Cabinet, appoints new MPs and ambassador

President Samia Suluhu Hassan has made a series of government changes, including ministerial appointments, transfers of deputy ministers, nomination of Members of Parliament and diplomatic postings.

According to a statement issued by Chief Secretary Moses Kusiluka, the changes involve appointments, transfers and revocations affecting senior government officials.

In the reshuffle, Palamagamba Kabudi has been appointed Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office responsible for Policy, Parliament, Coordination and Persons with Disabilities. 

Before this appointment, Prof Kabudi served as Minister of State in the President’s Office – Ikulu (Special Duties).

Member of Parliament Reuben Nhamanilo Kwagilwa has been transferred from the Prime Minister’s Office – Regional Administration and Local Government (PMO-RALG) to become Deputy Minister in the Vice President’s Office responsible for Union and Environment.

Similarly, Festo Dugange has been moved from the Vice President’s Office to serve as Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office – PMO-RALG, where he will handle education matters.

In another appointment, Ali Jabir Mwadini has been named Presidential Secretary.

President Samia has also nominated Eveline Wilbard Munisi and Angela Kizigha as Members of Parliament in the National Assembly.

On the diplomatic front, Said Othman Yakub has been appointed Tanzania’s ambassador to France.

Meanwhile, the appointment of James Andilile Mwainyekule as Director General of the Energy and Water Utilities Regulatory Authority (EWURA) has been revoked, and he will be assigned other duties.

The statement added that the swearing-in ceremony for the newly appointed minister and deputy ministers will be held on a date to be announced later.
