Peace is essential for the prosperity and development of society, as well as the well-being of every citizen, emphasized peace and development analyst Dr. Said Jafo.
He called on all Tanzanians, regardless of their position, to take responsibility in protecting peace and preventing threats that could undermine it.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with a Dar es Salaam media outlet on Thursday, April 2, 2026, Dr. Jafo highlighted the critical importance of the government’s consistent focus on peace, urging citizens to consider the far-reaching consequences that may arise when peace is compromised.
“When you hear discussions about peace, do not dismiss them. Peace is vital for everyone the rich, the poor, leaders, citizens, politicians, and religious figures alike. When our leaders speak about peace, it reflects their awareness of the risks citizens face if peace is lost,” Dr. Jafo said.
He explained that peace enables economic, social, and educational activities to flourish without fear, while fostering love, unity, and respect for the rule of law.
Societies that maintain peace experience fewer conflicts, reduced stress, and improved quality of daily life.
Dr. Jafo joined other political and economic analysts in underscoring that peace is indispensable for economic growth, allowing citizens to pursue productive ventures, trade, and investment confidently.
Psychologists, including Mr. Richard Kisaka, have also noted that by reducing fear and violence, peace alleviates mental stress and promotes emotional stability, creating an environment where individuals, families, and communities can thrive.
