Cultural and sports officials across Tanzania have been urged to actively promote investment opportunities in the fields of culture, arts, and sports within their regions.
The appeal came from Gerson Msigwa,Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Information, Culture, Arts and Sports and Government Spokesperson, during the closing of the 16th national working session for cultural and sports officers at the Arusha International Conference Centre (AICC).
Mr. Msigwa said Tanzania is rich in opportunities that remain largely untapped. He cited examples such as producing films that reflect Tanzanian heritage, constructing sports and training facilities, and investing in restaurants that serve traditional cuisine.
He noted that these initiatives not only preserve cultural heritage but also showcase it to a global audience.
Highlighting the government’s commitment, Mr. Msigwa recalled that President Samia Suluhu Hassan actively participated in the Royal Tour film as part of efforts to promote Tanzania internationally.
“Our country is blessed with abundant cultural wealth, yet much of it remains underutilized in films and creative projects. Cultural officers at every level must become catalysts for change, guiding communities and investors to harness these opportunities,” he said.
The ministry says the Sixth Phase Government prioritizes the culture, arts, and sports sectors as key drivers for economic growth, tourism, and international recognition.
