A senior opposition figure has called on politicians to shift from blame to solutions following the release of the report on the October 29, 2025 post-election unrest, urging national dialogue to rebuild unity.

Odero Charles Odero, a member of Chama cha Demokrasia na Maendeleo (CHADEMA) and former national chairmanship aspirant, said leaders must avoid inflammatory rhetoric and instead focus on constructive engagement.

Speaking to journalists on April 23, 2026, shortly after the independent commission led by retired judge Mohamed Othman Chande handed its report to President Samia Suluhu Hassan, Odero said the country needs unity and sober reflection.

“This is not the time for blaming each other or pointing fingers. It is the right time to sit at the table and discuss how to restore national unity,” he said.

Odero warned that continued political tensions and provocative statements could undermine efforts to heal divisions exposed by the report.

“This is not the time to tear the country apart. It is a time to encourage one another and rebuild Tanzania,” he added.

He noted that the findings of the commission affect all sides, as they highlight multiple triggers behind the breakdown of peace, making it necessary for leaders to put aside personal and political interests.

“The report touches everyone. That is why we must rise above our differences and put national interest first,” he said.

Odero further urged politicians to carefully study the report and contribute ideas that can help restore trust, strengthen institutions, and prevent a recurrence of similar unrest.

His remarks add to growing calls across the political spectrum for dialogue and reconciliation, as Tanzania reflects on the causes and consequences of the 2025 post-election violence.
