The National Environment Management Council (NEMC) has been awarded a certificate of appreciation for its participation in the Union Night celebrations held in Dar es Salaam, as leaders called for stronger involvement of public institutions in advancing national unity and sustainable development.
The certificate was presented by Vice President Emmanuel Nchimbi during an event held at the Julius Nyerere International Convention Centre (JNICC), which was celebrated under the theme “62 Years of Union: Peace, Unity and Solidarity as the Foundation of Sustainable Development.”
While presenting the certificate, Vice President Nchimbi said the participation of public institutions in national events remains key in strengthening unity and promoting shared development goals.
“Public institutions must continue to actively participate in national activities that promote unity, solidarity and sustainable development. This is how we strengthen our nation,” he said.
He added that national celebrations provide an opportunity for institutions to reflect on their role in supporting government priorities and contributing to long-term development objectives.
On its part, NEMC said its participation in the event reflects its continued commitment to environmental protection and collaboration with the government in implementing national development agendas.
“We are honoured to be part of this important national celebration. Our presence here reflects our commitment to environmental conservation and supporting government efforts in sustainable development,” NEMC's Director General Dr. Immaculate Sware Semesi said.
The council further reaffirmed its dedication to working with stakeholders in ensuring that environmental protection remains central to Tanzania’s development trajectory, in line with national and Union priorities.
