The head coach of the Jeshi Stars wrestling team, Burhani Said Abdallah, has attributed his team’s success in winning the Muungano Cup to strong discipline, hard work and unity among players.

The championship, which concluded yesterday in Zanzibar, saw Jeshi Stars crowned winners after a competitive tournament that brought together strong teams from different regions.

Speaking to The Respondent Online, Abdallah said the victory was not easy, as they faced stiff competition, particularly from Team Tiger, which impressed throughout the tournament with its high level of performance and determination.

He noted that the final stages of the competition were especially challenging due to the intensity and quality of opposition, saying Team Tiger pushed them to raise their standards.

Abdallah commended their opponents for what he described as respectful and high-quality competition, stressing that such rivalry played an important role in improving the overall level of the sport.

He said facing a strong opponent helped his team to remain focused and deliver their best performance when it mattered most.

According to him, the success of Jeshi Stars was built on a solid foundation of discipline within the squad, combined with consistent effort in training and strong teamwork.

He emphasized that every player contributed to the final achievement, from preparation stages through to the final match.

He also expressed gratitude to the Chief of Defence Forces for continued support and motivation, which he said played a key role in boosting the morale of the team throughout the tournament.

Abdallah further highlighted that the victory belongs to everyone connected to the team, including players, technical staff, management and supporters who stood by them during the competition. He said such collective effort is what drives long-term success in sports.

While celebrating the achievement, the coach also made it clear that Jeshi Stars are already looking ahead.

He said the team will continue to strengthen its preparations and build on the momentum gained from the tournament in order to perform even better in future competitions.

“We are grateful for this success, but our focus now is to improve further and remain competitive,” he said in essence, noting that maintaining high standards will be key to sustaining their winning culture.

The Muungano Cup victory adds another milestone to Jeshi Stars’ growing reputation in wrestling, reflecting a team that is steadily rising through discipline, unity and determination.
