Deputy Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Works, Dr. Charles Msonde, has called on staff of the National Construction Council (NCC) to strengthen innovation, unity and teamwork in order to enhance the institution’s role in advancing Tanzania’s construction industry.
Dr. Msonde made the remarks in Dodoma on Monday while opening the NCC Workers’ Council meeting, where he stressed that every staff member has a responsibility to contribute ideas that support development planning and deliver practical solutions that benefit the nation.
He said NCC occupies a strategic position in overseeing the construction sector, adding that employees should remain committed, creative and ready to respond to emerging challenges in the industry.
He encouraged workers to view challenges as part of growth, noting that progress in the public service is often driven by how institutions respond to difficulties.
“Do not fear challenges. They are part of the process of development and improvement,” he said, urging staff to remain proactive in addressing sectoral issues.
Dr. Msonde further emphasized that teamwork, professionalism and accountability are key pillars of success in public institutions.
He called on NCC employees to actively participate in shaping development plans within the council and to focus on initiatives that add value to the construction sector.
He also urged staff to prioritize innovation, saying new ideas are essential in preventing internal conflicts, improving efficiency and avoiding conflicts of interest that may slow down institutional performance.
Dr. Msonde assured that the Ministry of Works will continue to support NCC in implementing its plans and strengthening its capacity to regulate and develop the construction industry for the benefit of the country.
For his part, NCC Chief Executive Officer and Chairperson of the Workers’ Council, Dr. Matiko Mturi, said the council has continued to play an important role in resolving disputes arising in construction projects across the country.
He noted that NCC also handles new construction-related cases, which contributes to improving professionalism and strengthening the growth of the sector.
Dr. Mturi added that NCC has been providing training to stakeholders in the construction industry, particularly on contract management and handling variations in contracts.
He said the training programs are aimed at improving understanding among industry players, reducing disputes, and ensuring better implementation of construction projects.
He reaffirmed NCC’s commitment to working closely with stakeholders to strengthen the sector and ensure construction activities contribute effectively to national development goals.
