Modern investment in education highlighted at Kemebos, Kaizirege Graduation

The Bishop of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tanzania (KKKT), Alex Malasusa, has spoken about the modern investment made by Kemebos and Kaizirege educational institutions, noting its role in supporting youth development and the nation.

He made the remarks during the 2026 Form Six graduation ceremony held at the schools’ grounds in Bukoba, where he outlined the importance of unity, peace, wisdom and quality education in society.

Malasusa said the level of investment in the institutions has contributed to their academic performance and visibility, adding that church leaders will continue engaging with the schools.

“When the national anthem is sung, it becomes like a prayer to God, where we ask for unity, peace and wisdom for Africa and Tanzania. This is the dream of every Tanzanian, and it is our responsibility to uphold it,” he said.

He explained that wisdom is shaped through upbringing at home and through access to quality education in schools such as Kemebos and Kaizirege.

“With unity in families and society, we can bring positive change to our youth. If we see negative outcomes, we should ask ourselves as parents whether we have played our role properly. As the anthem reminds us, we must avoid creating division among our people,” he said.

The bishop also pointed to the need for cooperation between religious and government leaders to ensure citizens receive moral guidance and that leadership is guided by values and integrity.

“Religious leaders should guide the nation in building peace, wisdom and unity. Everyone should support messages of peace and reject anything that threatens harmony,” he added.

Addressing students, Malasusa said education remains central to their future and urged them to remain focused as they prepare for national examinations.

The head of Kemebos and Kaizirege schools, Kisha Ilamulila, said 212 students are expected to graduate this year and called on them to prepare for the examinations scheduled for May 4.

Meanwhile, Bukoba District Commissioner, Erasto Sima, representing the Kagera Regional Commissioner, said the government continues to work with education stakeholders to support development efforts in the region.
