Residents have called on families to take greater responsibility in raising children and youth with strong moral values and a clear understanding of religious teachings, saying such efforts are essential in safeguarding peace and stability in the country.

Speaking on Saturday, April 4, 2026, the residents stressed that parents and guardians must dedicate time to guide their children by teaching them the importance of peace, discipline and respect for God, noting that a strong moral foundation helps young people grow into responsible members of society.

Among those who shared their views were Cecilia Maganga, a resident of Kigogo Fresh, and Ibrahim Seif Wambura. They emphasized that peace remains the cornerstone of national development and the wellbeing of citizens, as it allows people to carry out their daily economic and social activities without fear.

Maganga said families must play a central role in educating their children and youth about the value of peace and the importance of protecting it at all times.

She explained that once peace is lost it becomes very costly and difficult to restore, urging parents to ensure children understand the significance of maintaining harmony within communities and the country at large.

Maganga also underscored the importance of religious education, saying faith helps shape young people’s behaviour and encourages them to live responsibly.

“As families we must sit down with our children and youth and teach them about peace and why it is important to protect the peace of our country. If peace is lost it becomes very costly to bring it back. Peace is a blessing from God and it gives us the freedom to carry out our activities without fear,” she said.

For his part, Wambura cautioned young people against engaging in acts that could disrupt peace, including taking part in unlawful demonstrations or being influenced to engage in violent activities.

He advised youth to make productive use of the peace, security and stability prevailing in the country by engaging in legitimate economic activities that can help improve their lives.

Wambura added that young people have a vital role in protecting national unity and stability, noting that discipline, respect for the law and responsible conduct are key in maintaining lasting peace in society.
