The Dar es Salaam Regional Volleyball Association (DAREVA) League Board has unveiled a new initiative to reward outstanding performers in its league, introducing round-based awards for the best male and female players as well as referees.
The awards, set to begin on April 4 this year, will be presented at the end of every league round. The move is aimed at raising standards, strengthening competition and motivating players and match officials to consistently deliver top performances.
Speaking on the new development, League Board Coordinator Nassoro Sharif said the evaluation process will be conducted in every match, with standout players and referees shortlisted before winners are determined through a voting process.
“We will assess performances in each game, and the best candidates will be selected through voting to determine the winner of every round,” Sharif explained.
He noted that the introduction of the awards reflects DAREVA’s commitment to professionalizing the league and creating a more competitive environment for athletes in Dar es Salaam.
Sharif also urged stakeholders, sponsors and volleyball enthusiasts to support the initiative, stressing that collective backing will help enhance the league’s growth and visibility while inspiring players and referees to excel throughout the season.
