Online content creators have been urged to uphold ethics, patriotism and professionalism in the material they produce in order to protect Tanzania’s image and promote responsible use of digital platforms.
Nyamagana District Commissioner Amina Makilagi made the call on April 1, 2026 in Mwanza during the opening of the first phase of training for online content creators organised by the Ministry of Information, Culture, Arts and Sports.
She said the growing influence of social media and digital platforms places great responsibility on creators to ensure their work reflects national values while contributing positively to society.
Makilagi urged participants to make good use of the knowledge they gained during the training to improve the quality of their work and create more opportunities for economic growth.
She emphasised that the training should not end with the workshop but should be applied in their daily work to help them grow professionally and increase their earnings.
She also encouraged the creators to continue improving their skills through different learning opportunities so they can keep up with the rapid changes in technology and the digital economy.
The Chief Executive Officer of the Tanzania Culture and Arts Fund, CPA Nyakaho Mahemba, said the training aims to equip content creators with knowledge on how to access loans, write project proposals and produce high-quality content capable of competing in both local and international markets.
He noted that many young people are now using digital platforms as a source of income and that the government is committed to supporting them with the skills and resources needed to succeed.
One of the participants, Andrew Ngonyani, popularly known as Brother K, thanked the government for organising the training, saying it has helped many young people learn how to turn their digital creativity into a source of income.
He advised the government to continue creating a supportive environment for artists and content creators so they can benefit more from their talents and contribute to the country’s creative economy.
The training covered a number of topics including financial literacy, content entrepreneurship, accountability to online audiences and practical steps for opening business accounts that allow creators to earn income through digital platforms.
