Preparations for the 50th anniversary of the Saba Saba International Trade Fair have gained momentum after the organizing committee held a strategic meeting at the headquarters of the Tanzania Trade Development Authority (TanTrade) in Dar es Salaam.

The meeting focused on reviewing strategies to strengthen preparations for the 2026 edition of the annual trade exhibition, which will mark five decades since the launch of the country’s flagship trade fair.

During the session, TanTrade Director General Dr. Latifa Khamis presented the preliminary roadmap outlining how the historic exhibition will be organised.

The strategy aims to ensure that the 2026 event is delivered at a higher level of quality while attracting more exhibitors, investors and visitors from both Tanzania and abroad.

Dr. Khamis said the golden jubilee fair will provide a unique platform to showcase Tanzania’s expanding industrial and commercial sectors while strengthening business partnerships and investment opportunities.

The meeting was chaired by the Deputy Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Aristides Mbwasi, who expressed satisfaction with the progress already made in preparing for the landmark event.

However, he urged the committee to accelerate implementation of the agreed plans, noting that the 2026 exhibition carries special national significance.

“This is a historic milestone. The 50th anniversary of the Saba Saba Trade Fair offers a major opportunity to promote Tanzania’s trade and investment potential and contribute to the growth of the national economy,” he said.

The Saba Saba International Trade Fair, organised annually by the Tanzania Trade Development Authority, is one of the largest trade exhibitions in the country.

Each year it brings together government institutions, private companies, entrepreneurs and international partners to display products, services and innovations while strengthening commercial ties and economic development.
