The Tanzania Agricultural Development Bank (TADB) has provided humanitarian support to 130 children with special needs in Zanzibar as part of its corporate social responsibility activities during the holy month of Ramadan.
The bank on March 9 visited two childcare centres on the islands, delivering essential supplies aimed at supporting the welfare of vulnerable children during the fasting period.
The first visit was to ZASO Children Home located in Fuoni Mambo Sasa, which cares for 47 children with special needs. The delegation later visited Mssers Markaz Orphanage in Fuoni Jitimai, home to 83 orphaned children.
During the visits, TADB donated various basic necessities intended to ease the children’s daily needs and bring comfort during Ramadan, a period widely associated with compassion, charity and community solidarity.
The assistance was officially handed over by the bank’s Zanzibar Zone Manager, Mr Ally Jamal, who was accompanied by other TADB staff members.
Mr Jamal said the initiative reflects the bank’s continued commitment to supporting communities and reaching out to vulnerable groups in society.
“This gesture is part of our broader commitment as a bank to give back to the community and to show love and solidarity with groups that require special care and attention,” he said.
He added that TADB believes institutions have a responsibility not only to support economic development but also to contribute to social welfare initiatives that improve people’s lives.
The visit forms part of the bank’s ongoing corporate social responsibility efforts, which include community outreach programmes targeting vulnerable populations across the country.
Through such initiatives, TADB aims to strengthen its relationship with communities while promoting a culture of compassion and shared responsibility, particularly during significant periods such as Ramadan.
