President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, today received reports from the Controller and Auditor General (CAG), the Prevention and Combating of Corruption Bureau (PCCB), and the Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (PPRA) during a ceremony at the State House in Dar es Salaam.

President Samia stressed that accountability, integrity, and proper management of public resources are non-negotiable pillars for strengthening government performance and accelerating national development.

She praised the efforts of these institutions in promoting transparency, enforcing discipline in public spending, and safeguarding national resources while ensuring efficient implementation of development projects.

“I have listened carefully to the reports presented by our institutions. Let me be clear: accountability in the use of public resources is not optional; it is a fundamental duty for every leader and public servant,” President Samia said.

Commenting on the CAG report, the President described it as a vital tool for enhancing financial accountability and ensuring that public funds are properly managed.

She assured that the government will act on the audit findings to boost efficiency in implementing development projects.

On the reports from PCCB and PPRA, President Samia noted that they highlight ongoing measures to fight corruption, increase transparency in public procurement, and enforce discipline in project execution.

She emphasized that these efforts are crucial to protecting national resources and promoting good governance.

The President also lauded the use of the National Electronic Single Window System for Public Procurement (NeST), which has improved transparency and competition in government procurement. She called for further strengthening of digital systems to monitor and manage public resources.

“Let us continue to strengthen digital management systems to improve transparency, efficiency, and accountability in the use of public resources,” she said.

President Samia condemned negligence, wastefulness, and misuse of public resources, warning that deliberate acts undermining development will not be tolerated.

“Every leader and public servant has a duty to manage national resources with integrity, for the benefit of citizens and the progress of our country,” she stressed.

She urged public institutions to take timely action on the issues raised in the reports, noting that implementing the recommendations will strengthen accountability, protect national resources, and enhance government service delivery.

The CAG report indicates that Tanzania’s national debt remains sustainable, given the government’s repayment capacity, economic growth trends, and domestic revenue performance.

It also shows an increase in clean audit certificates for public institutions, reflecting stronger accountability, transparency, and resource management.

For public procurement, the Annual Public Procurement Performance Assessment was submitted to the President for the first time, marking a significant step in improving accountability in the use of public resources.
