Residents of Kilosa District are receiving free specialist medical services through a medical outreach camp organized by Muhimbili National Hospital in partnership with Vodacom Foundation Tanzania.
The outreach programme began on March 10, 2026 as part of efforts to bring advanced medical services closer to communities outside major urban centres.
The initiative follows a directive by President Samia Suluhu Hassan calling for improved access to healthcare services for citizens across the country.
Executive Director of Muhimbili National Hospital, Delilah Kimambo, said the hospital has been conducting specialist medical camps in different parts of Tanzania to implement the government’s vision of ensuring that quality treatment reaches people wherever they live.
The Kilosa camp is offering free screening and treatment for several conditions including cervical cancer, breast cancer and prostate cancer. Specialists are also providing services for maternal and reproductive health, ear, nose and throat conditions, dental care and treatment for children.
Medical expert teams say the outreach aims to detect diseases early and provide treatment for patients who may face challenges accessing specialist care at referral hospitals.
Residents from Kilosa and neighbouring areas have been encouraged to attend the camp and benefit from the free services provided by the team of specialists from Muhimbili.
Muhimbili National Hospital has in recent years expanded community outreach programmes as part of broader efforts to improve access to specialised healthcare services across Tanzania.
