The Kilimanjaro Volleyball League 2026 (KVL 2026) is set to begin this Saturday under the management of the Kilimanjaro Regional Volleyball Association (VAKI), marking a historic milestone for the region’s volleyball scene.
A total of 19 teams will participate, including 11 men’s teams and eight women’s teams. Officials describe this as a significant achievement, especially for women’s volleyball, which has seen remarkable growth and interest.
VAKI Chairman Alfred Selengia said the official launch will take place on March 14 and will be presided over by Kilimanjaro Regional Administrative Secretary (RAS) Kiseo Yusuph Nzowa.
The league will follow a home-and-away format, but all matches will be held at Ushirika Ground in Moshi Municipality. Teams will meet at the venue every weekend, with matches running from morning to evening.
“The competition will continue until July 26, when the top three teams in both men’s and women’s categories will receive trophies, medals, and new jerseys,” Selengia said.
He added that the league will also serve as a platform to select players for the Kilimanjaro regional teams. These teams will enter a training camp in November to prepare for the Taifa Cup national volleyball tournament in Dodoma, scheduled for December 26.
Moreover, the Kilimanjaro regional champions will secure the chance to compete in the Tanzania Volleyball National League (TVNL).
Participating teams include MOCU, Genesis UWC EA, KCMC, KRS, Kilisummit Same, Mwanga 6 VC (men and women), as well as Mount Spikers and Hai Spikers in the men’s category.
