Heavy rains forced the postponement of the NBC Premier League match between Simba Sports Club and TRA United that was scheduled to be played at Sheikh Amri Abeid Stadium in Arusha.
The match, part of the ongoing NBC Premier League season, was called off after persistent rainfall left the pitch waterlogged and unsafe for players.
According to officials, the rain began during pre-match preparations and quickly flooded large sections of the field, making it impossible for the teams to play under safe conditions.
Match officials conducted an inspection of the pitch but concluded that the situation could not allow the game to proceed.
Following the inspection, the Tanzania Premier League Board decided to suspend the fixture in accordance with league regulations.
The decision was guided by Rule 34:1(1.4), which allows for the postponement of matches under unavoidable circumstances, as well as Rule 39:13 relating to the responsibilities of match referees.
Fans from both teams had already gathered at the stadium in anticipation of the match, which was expected to be a competitive encounter between the two sides.
The league board is expected to issue an official statement on the fate of the fixture, including the new date for the match to be played in line with the league schedule.
