Deputy Minister of Health, Dr. Florence Samizi, on Monday, March 9, 2026, attended a special Thanksgiving Mass led by Bishop Dr. Alex Malasusa, head of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tanzania (KKKT), in Kilimanjaro Region.

The ceremony marked the 55th anniversary of the Kilimanjaro Christian Medical Centre (KCMC) and the groundbreaking for the hospital’s new Cardiac Unit.

The Mass celebrated KCMC’s significant contribution to healthcare over more than five decades, particularly in specialized medical services such as cardiology.

Dr. Samizi commended KCMC for its dedication to providing advanced treatment and training expert specialists, noting the hospital’s crucial role in improving healthcare access for Tanzanians.

The new Cardiac Unit is expected to enhance KCMC’s capacity to treat heart-related conditions, offering advanced care to patients from Northern Tanzania and surrounding regions.

The project also reflects the hospital’s commitment to strengthening specialist medical services and promoting health innovation.

Bishop Dr. Malasusa highlighted the role of faith and gratitude in supporting healthcare development, emphasizing that collaboration between religious institutions and medical centers has historically contributed to stronger community health services.

The 55th anniversary celebrations, coupled with the groundbreaking of the Cardiac Unit, underscore KCMC’s continued leadership in Tanzania’s healthcare sector and its commitment to providing world-class medical care.
