The Bank of Tanzania (BoT) has been praised for its firm management of the banking sector, a move that has boosted profits for commercial banks and strengthened the country’s financial system.
Experts say BoT’s oversight has created a stable and friendly environment for banks, enabling them to grow sustainably.
“Looking at the numbers, banks continue to post steady annual profits thanks to BoT’s effective supervision,” said one banking analyst.
BoT has vowed to maintain an enabling environment for banks to thrive. Banks are also encouraged to leverage reliable electricity and improved internet access to develop digital services that increase efficiency and widen financial inclusion for Tanzanians.
