The Tanzanian women’s national football team, Twiga Stars, has arrived in Dubai to compete in the Pink Ladies Tournament, a key part of their preparations for this year’s Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) Finals.
The team began their international training preparations in Egypt, where they held a pre-tournament camp, before moving to Dubai for the next phase.
The squad is expected to conclude their pre-WAFCON build-up with a final camp in Tunisia.
According to the tournament schedule, Twiga Stars will open their campaign on February 28 against the Russian women’s national team.
The competition runs until March 6, bringing together women’s teams from across the globe.
Twiga Stars view the tournament as a vital opportunity to test their strength, gain international experience, and strengthen team cohesion ahead of WAFCON.
Speaking ahead of the tournament, Head Coach Bakari Shime said the players are in top physical and mental condition.
He praised their discipline, focus, and determination in training, noting that their commitment gives the team a strong chance of success both in Dubai and in upcoming international fixtures.
