The Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA), through its Customs Department, has handed over a Fuso truck to the Shinyanga Urban Police following its illegal importation into the country.
The handover ceremony, led by TRA Shinyanga Regional Audit Manager Mr. David Makwabe on behalf of the regional TRA Manager, took place today, Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at the TRA offices in Shinyanga.
Speaking after the handover, Shinyanga Regional Deputy Customs Officer Mr. Joseph Nayingo urged importers to comply with the country’s customs laws when bringing goods into Tanzania. He emphasized that failure to follow legal procedures exposes goods to confiscation.
Mr. Nayingo also highlighted that importing goods without paying the required taxes causes the government to lose revenue, ultimately affecting funding for public services such as road construction, health, education, and water projects.
The Fuso truck was received by Shinyanga District Police Commander (OCD) SSP Stephen Wilson Kimaro on behalf of the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Camillus Wambura.
