President of the United Republic of Tanzania and Commander-in-Chief of the Defense Forces, Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, has officially inaugurated the new National Security Headquarters in Kikombo, Chamwino District, Dodoma, marking a significant step in strengthening the country’s security infrastructure.
Speaking at the ceremony, President Samia highlighted that the investment in the facility is vital for safeguarding Tanzania’s peace, sovereignty, and socio-economic development. She said the completion of the first phase reflects long-term government planning and the use of both financial resources and local expertise.
"This headquarters symbolizes our determination and capacity as a nation to plan, decide, and implement major projects using our own funds and experts," President Samia stated.
The President urged the Ministry of Defense and National Service and the Tanzania People’s Defense Forces (JWTZ) to use the facility as a hub for strategic planning, professional analysis, and modern management of security operations.
She emphasized that contemporary security relies not only on weapons but also on information, technology, communication systems, and modern strategies.
Linking national security to Tanzania’s development, President Samia noted that as the country grows, so does the responsibility of the government and its institutions to protect borders, assets, and citizens. She assured that the government will continue providing the forces with the best working conditions to carry out their duties effectively.
President Samia commended past leadership, the Ministry of Defense, and the JWTZ for their contributions, which have enabled the Sixth Phase Government to establish a modern, strategic security facility.
She encouraged officers and soldiers to uphold discipline, integrity, professionalism, and dedication, warning against actions that could undermine public trust.
Finally, the President called on all Tanzanians to continue safeguarding peace and stability, stressing that national security is a shared responsibility between citizens and state institutions.
The new National Security Headquarters marks a milestone in Tanzania’s efforts to modernize its security systems and align them with the country’s economic and social reforms under the Sixth Phase Government.
