TARURA meets MPs to resolve infrastructure challenges

Tanzania’s Rural and Urban Roads Agency (TARURA) has held talks with lawmakers from the Vunjo and Moshi Rural constituencies to address challenges facing road infrastructure projects, including stalled construction due to budget constraints.

TARURA Chief Executive Victor Seff met on Tuesday with Vunjo MP Enock Koola and Moshi Rural MP Morris Makoi at the agency’s headquarters in Dodoma, where the parties agreed to cooperate in resolving funding and implementation bottlenecks.

The discussions focused on reviving delayed road projects and incorporating newly opened roads in the two constituencies into TARURA’s official road network for maintenance and development.

“The purpose of this meeting, among other things, is to advance President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s vision of improving transport and mobility services across the country,” Seff said.

He said the government, through TARURA, aims to ensure all roads are passable throughout the year to prevent disruptions to economic and social activities.

Seff said TARURA’s broader objectives include maintaining year-round accessibility of rural and urban roads, reducing vehicle maintenance costs, shortening travel times and improving road safety and environmental protection.
