In a significant step to improve electricity services across the country, the Tanzania Electric Supply Company (TANESCO) has received 12 new vehicles, part of a larger fleet of 205 expected by the end of April.
The new vehicles, handed over at TANESCO’s Ubungo offices, are part of a short-term strategy led by Managing Director Mr. Lazaro Twange to enhance efficiency and reach in service delivery nationwide.
Speaking during the handover ceremony, TANESCO Safety Services Manager Mr. Lenin Kiobya said the vehicles would play a vital role in ensuring timely electricity services, especially in areas with challenging terrain that were previously hard to access.
“These vehicles will significantly support the organization’s key initiatives, including the Mission 300 program, which aims to expand electricity access across Tanzania. We call upon drivers to maintain these vehicles diligently so they continue to serve the community effectively,” Mr. Kiobya said.
TANESCO Transport Unit Supervisor Mr. Thomas Gowele highlighted that the vehicles are modern and equipped with front and rear cameras to assist drivers. They also feature 360-degree cranes to ease lifting and lowering of poles and other equipment.
“These state-of-the-art vehicles are designed not only to improve service delivery but also to enhance the safety of our employees in the field,” Mr. Gowele added.
TANESCO continues to invest in transportation tools, including trucks, small vehicles, motorcycles, and three-wheelers, to ensure that electricity services reach all corners of the country efficiently and reliably.
With these upgrades, TANESCO reinforces its commitment to delivering reliable electricity while ensuring customer satisfaction and operational excellence.
