The Prime Minister, Mwigulu Nchemba, has ordered the PCCB to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the alleged misuse of public funds allocated for the construction of the District Commissioner’s Office in Kiteto District.

Speaking in Manyara Region, the Prime Minister directed the regional anti-corruption commander to identify all individuals involved and submit a detailed report before the end of his official tour in the region.

He made it clear that the return of the misused funds does not cancel responsibility, insisting that disciplinary action must be taken to uphold accountability in public service.

The directive was issued during the laying of the foundation stone for the Kiteto District Commissioner’s Office, a project valued at TZS1.85 billion and currently 85 percent complete.

The Prime Minister emphasized that public officials are entrusted to safeguard government resources and ensure they are used strictly for their intended development purposes.

He further instructed authorities to submit detailed reports on internally generated revenues, including income from auctions, showing how such funds are collected and spent.

The government, he stressed, will not tolerate any form of embezzlement or misuse of public resources.

In another message, the Prime Minister said President Samia Suluhu Hassan remains fully committed to resolving citizens’ challenges and accelerating sustainable development, noting that strict accountability is a key pillar of the government’s development agenda.
