The National Domestic Investment Promotion Campaign has entered Katavi Region, reinforcing the government’s push to mobilise Tanzanians to invest in local economic opportunities and accelerate regional development.
A delegation from the Tanzania Investment and Special Economic Zones Authority (TISEZA) arrived on Wednesday morning at the Katavi Regional Commissioner’s Office, where it outlined three core objectives of the campaign.
These include visiting Tanzanian-owned projects to inspire wider participation in investment, conducting public seminars to deepen understanding of investment procedures and incentives, and officially launching an Investment Desk in the region in line with President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s directive to decentralise services and bring them closer to citizens.
Speaking during the reception, Katavi Regional Commissioner Mwanamvua Hoza Mrindoko described the campaign as timely, noting that it offers a platform to transform mindsets and position Katavi as a competitive destination for domestic investors.
She stressed the need to address negative perceptions surrounding investment and investors, urging Tanzanians to seize emerging opportunities and build wealth from within their regions.
She said the government has created an enabling environment for investment in Katavi, citing the availability of land, reliable electricity and water supply, and improving transport infrastructure by air, water, rail and road.
According to the Regional Commissioner, the region has already set aside 521 acres for investment, while an additional 2,500 acres are at various stages of preparation.
Ms Mrindoko added that Katavi is prioritising industrial development and will establish Investment Desks in all local government authorities to streamline project coordination. An initial pipeline of projects has been prepared, with each council expected to begin implementation with at least two investment initiatives.
Katavi’s investment portfolio spans agriculture, livestock, mining, social services and tourism. The region is also home to Katavi National Park, one of the country’s most distinctive wildlife destinations, known for its vast wilderness and unique biodiversity.
On his part, TISEZA Investment Promotion Manager Felix John thanked the regional leadership for the warm reception and called on residents, entrepreneurs and business leaders to participate actively in the campaign.
He invited the public to attend an investment promotion seminar scheduled for Thursday, February 27, 2026, at the Regional Commissioner’s Office hall, noting that the session will provide practical guidance on investment opportunities, procedures and incentives available in Katavi.
The campaign is expected to strengthen domestic investment, empower local entrepreneurs and enhance Katavi’s contribution to national economic growth.
