Prime Minister Mwigulu Nchemba has directed that all public service institutions, including schools and health facilities, be connected to reliable and safe water services.
Speaking at a meeting of the Water and Sanitation Authorities’ Boards, the Prime Minister commended the progress achieved in the water sector and highlighted the Ministry of Water’s efforts to implement the vision of Her Excellency President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan to reduce the burden of water collection, particularly for women.
Hon. Nchemba emphasized the importance of technology in improving service delivery, including the use of prepaid water meters and the construction of a National Water Grid.
He also called for stronger measures to curb water loss (Non-Revenue Water) and protect water infrastructure and sources.
In line with these efforts, the Prime Minister launched a digital system for water connection applications and smart meters, enabling customers to make payments conveniently via mobile phones or authorized agents. These initiatives aim to ensure that all Tanzanians have access to clean and safe water by 2030.
