Peace drives development and democracy in Tanzania

By The Respondents Reporter

Tanzanians have been reminded of their crucial role in safeguarding the country’s hard-earned peace, a key pillar for national development and the well-being of all citizens.

Experts and community leaders stress that without peace and unity, sustainable development, democracy, and social welfare cannot thrive.

Speaking on the importance of peace, Mr. Manase Zebedayo highlighted that it underpins investment, quality education, improved healthcare, and the general prosperity of citizens.

He urged the public to avoid divisive social media narratives, extreme political positions, inflammatory rhetoric, and social fragmentation, which can threaten the foundations of national stability.

“Peace is the freedom to carry out lawful activities. It is also love. When we care for one another, that is true peace. We must remain united and protect the harmony we enjoy, as Tanzania is a haven of peace,” Mr. Zebedayo said.

His views align with those of President Samia Suluhu Hassan, who, in her New Year message, urged citizens not to allow ideological or political differences to divide them or derail the nation’s development goals. While diversity of opinion is part of democracy, it should never lead to disunity.

President Samia emphasized that Tanzania’s unity, peace, and solidarity nurture patriotism and provide the foundation for sustainable growth and improved living standards for all Tanzanians.
