Members of the Executive Committee of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) arrived in Tanzania, February 12, 2026, at Julius Nyerere International Airport, ahead of the CAF executive session scheduled for February 13.

Their arrival has positioned Dar es Salaam as a key hub for African football discussions, with high-level deliberations expected on development strategies, infrastructure improvement, and preparations for upcoming continental competitions.

The session, chaired by CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe, will bring together presidents of national football associations, members of CAF committees, and other stakeholders driving the growth of the sport in Africa.

Among the main agenda items are: reviewing the progress of CAF competitions, promoting youth talent, strengthening domestic leagues in member countries, and discussing preparations for major upcoming tournaments, including the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), which Tanzania is set to co-host.

For Tanzania, hosting this meeting demonstrates CAF’s confidence in the country’s ability to stage major international events and highlights its growing profile in African football.

Local sports officials have noted that the visit offers a valuable platform to showcase Tanzanian football, attract international partnerships, and share experiences that will help elevate the local game.

In addition to the General Assembly, some CAF members are expected to tour sports facilities in Dar es Salaam and meet with local football leaders, further strengthening collaboration between CAF and Tanzania.
